Last week we were also in Warsaw, participating in FruitVegetablesEUROPE’s (EUCOFEL) General Assembly 2019 in cooperation with the EU SME Centre. FruitVegetablesEUROPE is the European Association representing the EU fruit and vegetables production and trade at European level.
We gave a presentation in imported fresh fruit market in China. We analysed Chinese fruit market, checking on production and most imported fruits. Then we focused on Europe’s role as a supplier to China up to date, listing the requirements to export fruits to China and the fruits allowed to be exported to China from an EU country. We also introduced the Chinese consumer behaviour, marketing trends and main drivers for fruit consumption, such as appearance, country of origin or packaging. Finally, we evaluated the main challenges and opportunities that EU producers and exporters have in the Chinese market.
Chinese imported fruit market will keep growing, representing a huge opportunity for EU exporters. It is important that they do an effort in product selection and promotion and sales management adapted China to succeed in the market.
