On the occasion of the visit of Mr. Kimmo Tiilikainen, Minister of Agriculture and the Environment of Finland to the People’s Republic of China; a delegation composed by Finnish Food and Beverage companies also landed in the country to take part of a very interesting business agenda designed to enrich their understanding of the local market.
As part of the activities, on March 23rd, the delegation visited JD.com, China’s leading online direct sales company and the country’s largest Internet company by revenue.
By December 31, 2015, JD.com operated 213 warehouses and a total of 5,367 delivery stations and pickup stations and its delivery network covered 2,356 counties and districts. Also by this time, the company also had approximately 99,000 merchants on its online marketplace and a total of 105,963 full-time employees.
The group had the chance to take a brief tour through JD’s impressive HQ offices and understand the importance of online commerce in the country directly from JD’s decision makers.
