The event was divided into three main parts, with different professionals sharing an expert view on several EU products with Chinese F&B professionals.
First, a professional ham carver introduced the main organoleptic features and defining characteristics of iberico ham, explaining why it is a truly unique product in the world.
After him, the sommelier gave a masterclass on EU food and wine pairing. All the food and wine tasted are registered geographical indications (GIs) in the European Union, and most of them are part of the one hundred GIs included in the future agreement that China and the EU are working together to sign.
The event concluded with a mixing show using EU spirits to prepare four different cocktails based on European spirits (Scotch whisky, rhum agricole, gin and vodka).
We were very excited to bring EU food and drinks closer to other markets in China. The campaign will deliver similar events throughout 2019 and 2020 in cities such as Chengdu, Qingdao, Xiamen or Wuhan, besides the main markets of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
