On November 23rd, we were invited as keynote speakers for The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World. After last year’s edition in New York, 2017 event was chosen to be in Shanghai, due to the size of the imported products market and its fast growth rate in China.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China and the Consulate General of Italy and was supported by an initiative at Tongji University in partnership with the Future Food Institute.
In our speech, we went through the trends per product, focusing on Italian top imported products, such as wine, fruits, olive oil, prosciutto and dairy products and we analysed the main sales channels. Convenience stores, foodservice and E-commerce offer the biggest potential nowadays, although it is crucial to define a clear strategy before starting to sell in China.
